CIARDI Caesar
Born in Italy in 1818. He appeared at the Argyle Rooms in London in 1829, where he performed his own Fantasia on "lucia Di Lammermoor". At this same concert, Mendelssohn conducted the first performance of his Overture to `A Midsummer Night`s Dream`. He again visited London in 1847, appearing at the Opera House, where he was encored. He was considered by G. Rudall (q.v.) to be "fit to play before a choir of angels". Ciardi`s flute at this time was an olcÌ Viennese instrument with a crack right throngh the head joint.
